Regional Science Bowl NEEDS VOLUNTEERS!

Members and Friends,

We are happy to promote and dedicate time to this great event, Not only does the Regional Science Bowl bring the awareness and importance of STEM to High School students across the Chicagoland area, it also ensures that they have a great time learning about it as well. The only way this event can happen is thru volunteers, this year we are reaching out to our professional members to help make this event an even more successful one. If you can find the time to become a volunteer please contact us, we are always looking for great people who can give back some of their time to our High School youth.

STEM Advocates! 

We hope that you are doing well. We are in the thick of the Regional Science Bowl (RSB) preparation with our first RSB If you have volunteered in the past, you know very well that this event is not possible without the volunteers. It looks like we will be having (hopefully 20 high school teams). This interest is great and exciting, but it means that we will need a minimum of 40 professional volunteers for the high school event!

Saturday, 25 February 2012
8:00 AM – ~5:00 PM (end time depends on the number of teams)

We are attaching a packet that will provide more information on the RSB and the volunteer roles. Essentially the RSB is a fast-paced, game show style competition where teams of 4-5 students play against each other answering questions regarding science, technology, engineering, and math.There will be Volunteer orientation Thursday, 23 February 2012 at 6:00 PM at UIC (room TBD) where we will go through a practice round and iron out details on the rules. Please let me know if you are not able to attend the orientation and we can work something out (like a phone call) where we can go over the rules together.
