Bryan Balladares Cabrera is a first-generation college graduate with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from North Central College and a Master’s in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He currently works as a CADD Project Manager at a geospatial engineering firm, where he leads projects that blend technical precision with innovative design.

Bryan’s SHPE journey began six years ago when he discovered the organization’s commitment to empowering underrepresented communities in STEM. Inspired by SHPE’s mission, he found a supportive network that made him feel seen, capable, and ready to take on the professional world. Now as a board member, Bryan is focused on expanding SHPE Chicago’s reach by building relationships with schools, companies, and organizations that align with SHPE’s values. He is especially passionate about creating more professional development opportunities and partnerships that provide resources, guidance, and inspiration to the community.

Outside of work, Bryan enjoys running, exploring diverse cuisines, and spending quality time with his family—activities that keep him grounded and energized.
