Greg Alvarez is an Account Manager at R+D Automation, where he supports manufacturing and process needs across the Life Sciences sector, including pharmaceutical, medical device, biotech, and diagnostics kit companies. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a Business minor from North Central College and a M.S. in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Greg’s SHPE journey began in 2019, when he co-founded the SHPE chapter at North Central College. What started as a small, supportive community among friends quickly grew into a lifelong commitment to SHPE’s mission of empowerment and representation. With over six years of active involvement—including serving on IIT’s general board—Greg now proudly supports the Chicagoland area’s professional chapter. His passion lies in building a strong Hispanic STEM professional network, inspiring students from K-12 through college, and positioning SHPE Chicago as a trusted resource for both nonprofits and corporate partners.

Outside of SHPE, Greg enjoys camping, hiking, off-roading, fitness, and keeping up with MMA and boxing. He’s also a self-proclaimed pizza fanatic—so feel free to send your best Chicago restaurant recommendations his way!
